Talented Ensemble in Residence contributes to innovative Schools Projects
Originating in Romania and settling in Galway in the late 90's the four members of the Con Tempo String Quartet continue to earn respect and widespread acclaim as one of the most accomplished young string quartets in the world. In 2003 they were appointed Ensemble in Residence to the city and county of Galway. The residency is supported by a partnership of the National University of Ireland, Galway, GMIT, the Arts Council, Udarás na Gaeltachta with additional funding from Galway City Council and Galway County Council.
The Ensemble in Residence lives in Galway, being an inspirational presence to the city and county as an active, talented and popular participant in a variety of performances.
The ongoing ConTempo Schools Project with the Galway Education Centre brings this gifted Quartet into contact with schoolchildren throughout the county in workshops, master classes and innovative music projects, in line with the Revised Primary School Music Curriculum.
