Title: Special Needs and ICT
Description: The course addresses the full range of special needs. While the use of ICT with specific types of disability or other special need is not covered in any depth, opportunities exist within the course for teachers to focus their interest and learning on a particular subject, particularly through the research element of the course.
  • Provide exposure to a range of potential ICT uses with special needs students.
  • Provide practical sessions for development of some ICT skills, particularly in software use and the Internet.
  • Provides opportunities to build confidence in using ICT with special needs students.
This course will include:
  • The matching and planning of ICT
  • Introduction to software
  • Evaluating interactive resources
  • Accessibility
  • Assistive technology for learning support
  • Accessing interactive resources
  • Reinforcement and content-free software for learning support
  • Creating teaching and learning resources
  • Using ICT in the classroom
  • Sharing/Presentation of research on resources
