This course will continue the work of the 2009 Summer Course on Irish and Creative Dance:
Create and perform a more complex range of movements than previously encountered in 2009.
Communicate through movement a range of moods or feelings.
Choose and respond to a broad range of stimuli eg Aural,visual,tactile.
Develop work with a group
Learn and perform a range of steps and movements to rhythms and musical phrases
Perform a range of selected Irish and folk dance.
This course will include:
- General introduction and revision of 2009 course on Dance and Music.
- Overview of creative dance and the cross curricular links
- Movement and rhythm
- Importance of music choice for different classes
- Creative dance for junior and senior classes
- Irish dance and teaching methods
- Irish dance music and traditional steps
- Integrating ICT and dance
- Figure dances and traditional set dances
