On completion of this course participants will be enabled to:
- Understand the key elements involved in effective literacy instruction
- Model key comprehension strategies - prediction, visualization, making connections, questioning, clarifying, inferencing, determining importance and
synthesizing with appropriately challenging picture books
- Model comprehension process motions
- Construct "Anchor Charts" as an aide memoire to the individual strategies
- Facilitate children's comprehension through the application of Transactional Strategies Instruction in the classroom
- Apply a range of appropriate comprehension strategies to diverse text genres
- Apply a range of assessment for learning approaches including sharing the learning intention and self-assessment
The course will include:
- Key intervention strategies for developing Speech, Language and Communication for children with SEN
- Developing Social Skills
