This Patient Moving and Handling Course is aimed at meeting the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act,2005 (& subsequent amendments) that apply to Moving and Handling in the workplace.
The techniques taught for patient handling are based on best international practice and evidence-based research and take into account minimal handling directives. The course combines a theory presentation, practical workshop, group practice and risk assessment.
This course is intended to meet the basic training requirements of Irish and
European Legislation on the safe moving and handling of patients and inanimate loads.
On completion of the course, successful candidates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of Moving and Handling Legislation
- List the reasons why proper moving and handling is so important
- Identify the health and safety risks associated with the moving and handling of patients and inanimate loads
- Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate action to take where such risks have been identified
- Demonstrate best moving and handling practice techniques in a variety of situations
All instructors are fully qualified and certification of completion is provided.
