NUMICON |
| Description: |
The Numicon Maths System is an inclusive, multi-sensory approach to teaching numeracy for preschool and primary-aged students. It may also be used as a resource to support children with learning difficulties or special educational needs.
About Numicon:
Numicon imagery uses patterns to represent each numeral, the patterns are structured so number relationships can be seen in a way not provided by written numerals, the imagery is used in Numicon's inclusive small step teaching programme. Teachers find that pupils are motivated by Numicon and quickly develop positive attitudes to maths, resulting in raised achievement. To find out more please visit: www.numicon.com
Aims of the workshops:
- To give an overview of the Numicon teaching programme and the rationale.
- To demonstrate that Numicon is an inclusive approach to support typically developing children and those with special needs.
- To give participants plenty of practical experience with Numicon so they are confident to support others using it and confident to use it themselves as part of their maths teaching.
